Are you planning to recreate your property or house for the selling purpose or do you consider buying a property and creating a cozy living space? With the free software of Autodesk like Sweet Home 3d , you can already pour your imagination into a real 3d environment, including virtual walks.
Tip 01: Installing
You download Sweet Home 3d here. The program allows you to work directly from your browser using JavaScript and Java 6, but we prefer the more robust and faster method: an installation on your system. READ ALSO: What do you print in 3d?
Considering Sweet Home 3d is working under Java, the operating system does not matter much: it runs on Windows, OS X and Linux. Go to the download page on the website. If you have Java 6 or higher installed on your system, you can choose the version Java Web Start. In the other case, select the installer for your operating system, and Java will also be installed right. Installation is easy. The free version of this program is limited to a catalog of a hundred pieces of furniture. If you are more charming about 1200 pieces of furniture, you have to go for the paid version (approx. 15 euro).
Tip 02: Explore
When you start up Sweet Home 3d, you'll see four panels for you. Top left of the catalog of objects (such as furniture, doors, windows, and lighting), top right of the design room, bottom left an overview of the objects already added and the 3d rendering of your 2d design to the right. There is, of course, little to do at the moment, but we are going to change that in this article. You can start adding walls and other objects right away, but it works a lot easier when you've already created a blueprint or map on paper or with your favorite drawing program.
The digital or digitized (read: scanned) Map can then be used (temporarily) as background for your design in Sweet Home 3d. How you do that, you read in the next tip. If the interface is still English, you will be quick to use File/Preferences/Language. Immediately make sure that the unit is set preferably in centimeters. The parts magnetism, rulers, and Raster are also best activated here. Confirm with OK.
Tip 03: Import Map
About now go to the menu map, where you select Import background image. Press Select Image and refer to your plan (in PNG, GIF, JPEG or BMP format). Then press OK and continue. This is a significant step. The tool gives you the opportunity to set the scale size of the imported image. You can do that by positioning the endpoints of the blue line between two points in your map where you know the exact length. Then fill in the length of the character line (cm).
In a next step, move the blue ball to the point where you want in Sweet Home 3d the (0.0) end of your 2d design. For example, this can be a corner between two walls. Use the Magnifier icon to more accurately position this intersection point. Round off with finish: Your map will now be in the background in the design panel.
Tip 04: Placing Walls
A logical start for your 2d design is the installation of walls, where we do not attract any windows or doors for the time being. So make sure you have enough zoomed in on your plan and that you already have at least the entire first wall in the picture. Then, press creates barriers in the toolbar and click the left mouse button accurately at the starting point of the intended wall. This way you can finish all the walls, clicking on the next corner point each time. If you want to place a slanted wall, hold down the ALT key, so you are no longer limited to 15 ° increments. If you wish to (temporarily) to stop drawing walls, press ESC.
